Tuesday night, I found Anthony Bourdain right where I expected him: out on Les Halles' new smoking patio, in his signature leather jacket, cigarette in hand. He was surrounded by the likes of Aaron Sanchez, Patricia Yeo, Scott Bryan, and editor Panio Gianopoulos and his paramour Molly Ringwald, all of whom were there to fête the release of Anthony Bourdain's Les Halles Cookbook: Strategies, Recipes, and Techniques of Classic Bistro Cooking. The new book chronicles Bourdain's exploits at Les Halles in typically irreverent style and shares 100-plus recipes from the menu. I congratulated him and asked what he'd be doing on the new TV show. "Oh yeah, the new travel show I'm doing…" No, not that one. The Kitchen Confidential spinoff on Fox, produced and directed by "Sex and the City" creator Darren Star. "Well I'll probably be doing some consulting on that," he said. So had his role been cast yet? I offered my suggestion: writer-actor Eric Bogosian. After all, they're both leather-jacket-wearing, chain-smoking New Yorkers with a dark sense of humor. But if it were up to him, Bourdain would opt for another sinewy smoker and wicked wit. "Gary Oldman?" he shrugged.
