I thought I'd seen every permutation of the chef tasting event for charity and doubted whether it was possible to come up with something new. My in-box proved me wrong. This Sunday the first ever Seattle Soundbite takes place serving street-style food with live performances from seven restaurant bands. Rock on. Complete press release after the jump.

Seattle, Wash. - The Seattle Chapter of the Washington Restaurant Association presents SEATTLE SOUNDBITE - a first-of-its-kind food and music event featuring 15 Seattle restaurants serving sophisticated "street-style" food while 7 talented restaurant employee rock bands perform. Special guest Billy Joe Huels of the Dusty 45s will MC the event.
SEATTLE SOUNDBITE will be held Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the Showbox SoDo, 1700 First Avenue S., Seattle, Wash. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 through all Ticketmaster outlets, with $3 off postcards available at Caffé Vita Coffee shops and the participating restaurants. Must be 21 or older. Proceeds benefit The Vera Project, ProStart® and the WRA Seattle Chapter.
This event is unique in that only Seattle rock bands, with at least one member working in the foodservice industry, were eligible to submit CDs for audition. This year’s winning bands are Born Anchors(Ray’s Boathouse), Disjointed Isotopes (Serious Pie/Palace Kitchen/Le Pichet/Daniel’s Broiler/Union Square Grill), Ian McFeron Band (Ray’s Catering), La Isla Allstars of Picoso(La Isla), Kate Graves (Restaurant Zoë), Sideways Reign (Olympic Mountain Ice Cream, The Robin Hood Pub) and Sunday Night Blackout (Via Tribunali).
Restaurants participating are Café Campagne, Coastal Kitchen, El Gaucho, Lark, Palace Kitchen, Purple Café & Wine Bar, Quinn’s, Ray's Café, Red Door, Serafina, Southlake Grill, Tango, Tavolata, Via Tribunali and Volunteer Park Café. Each restaurant has created an inspired and signature "street-style" food item for sale during the show.
SEATTLE SOUNDBITE is sponsored by Caffé Vita Coffee Roasting Co., Gibson Guitars, 96.5 JACK FM, Seattle Sound Magazine, Service Linen, Smith & Greene Company and The Stranger. The waste from this event will be conscientiously managed courtesy of Cedar Grove Organics Recycling.
