THE ITALIAN TRADE COMMISSION GRANTS $50,000 IN SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS TO NEW YORK CITY’S ITALIAN CULINARY ACADEMY
The "Italian Trade Commission Scholarship Fund" to help support
the culinary education of six students
Applications due January 8th, 2008
New York City, New York (December 21, 2007) - The Italian Trade Commission announced today the creation of a series of scholarships that will help fund the culinary education of six students to study at The Italian Culinary Academy. The ICA, located in New York City, is the sister school to the world-renown French Culinary Institute, and offers the country’s most comprehensive education in authentic Italian cuisine.
“One of the goals of The Italian Trade Commission is to forge connections between up and coming chefs and real Italian ingredients," said Italian Trade Commissioner Aniello Musella. "We know that through exposure to these authentic ingredients, these young chefs will believe, as we do, that great Italian cooking relies heavily on the use of authentic Italian ingredients."
The $50,000 fund will be offered to six prospective ICA students who demonstrate an earnest commitment to studying Italian cooking, and a strong interest in Italy’s culinary heritage. Each recipient will receive an $8,300 scholarship award applied to The ICA’s 29-week "Italian Culinary Experience" program, which will prepare them for a career in authentic Italian cooking. In addition to extensive cooking classes taught in Italy and in New York City, The "Italian Culinary Experience" students also receive intensive Italian language instruction and are given the opportunity to intern at one of Italy’s finest restaurants.
The scholarships will be awarded to the six recipients on January 31st, 2008 during a reception hosted by The ICA at 4:00PM, featuring a menu prepared by students and instructors.
“We are thrilled to have the support of The Italian Trade Commission," said Chef Cesare Casella, Dean of The ICA. "They are dedicated to bringing only the best, most authentic Italian food products to the United States. Likewise, we are committed to offering the country’s best education in authentic Italian cuisine. This is a wonderful partnership and we are very honored to have their support."
Applications for The Italian Trade Commission Scholarship Fund are due on January 8th, 2008. For information on how to apply, please visit: http://www.italianculinaryacademy.com/financialaid.html, or call (888) 324-CHEF.
The programs offered by culinary colleges help students to become culinary graduates and prepare for a career as a chef, caterer, baker or pastry chef. Students get a good start of their career in hotel, restaurants, clubs, and resorts.
