2941 RESTAURANT TAPS SCOTT BRYAN FOR GUEST CHEF POSITION
Former Chef of Veritas, The New York Times Three Star Restaurant, Will Head 2941 Kitchen from October 9, 2007 through January 2008
FALLS CHURCH, Va., Oct. 3, 2007 – 2941 Restaurant welcomes Scott Bryan into its kitchen for a three-month guest chef stint that will last through the 2007 holiday dining season. Beginning Tuesday, October 9th, Chef Bryan will assume the executive chef responsibilities at the fine-dining restaurant, where he will be creating new menus using the season’s freshest ingredients, and managing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen.
Having served most recently as Executive Chef and Partner at Veritas Restaurant in New York for over 10 years, Bryan is looking forward to returning to the Washington area, where he once worked under acclaimed chef Bob Kinkaid. “Chef Kinkaid was my mentor, the person who taught me to cook and told me to travel. I’ve done both for close to 20 years; I’m ready and excited to return to the Washington area,” says Bryan. “The dining scene has just exploded since I last worked here, and I am truly excited about the opportunity to cook at 2941 Restaurant with a great staff and a savvy dining public.”
Bryan began his career at Kinkaid’s Harvest Restaurant in Boston, and was instrumental in helping to open and run 21 Federal in Washington, D.C. Bryan has spent time in some of the most illustrious kitchens in this country, including Square One in San Francisco and Gotham Bar & Grill, Restaurant Bouley, Le Bernardin and Lespinasse in New York City. Bryan has also completed a self-directed pastry apprenticeship with Richard Leach, the pastry chef from the Mondrian in New York.
After meeting restaurateur Gino Diaferia in 1994 Bryan assumed the position of Executive Chef of Alison on Dominick Street. In 1996, he partnered with Diaferia to open Indigo restaurant, where he was named one of Food & Wine magazine’s “Best New Chefs.”
Most recently, Bryan has presided over the kitchen at Veritas Restaurant, located in New York City’s Flatiron District. Veritas is known for its award winning food that often serves as a backdrop to one of the greatest, largest, and most reasonably priced wine lists in the world. Veritas was awarded the coveted honor of a Michelin star in 2006.
