A la mode. You’re thinking scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side -- a good assumption as you’re reading snack -- but this time I mean fashion week, as designers have pitched their tents at Bryant Park in NYC for the Spring 2006 collections.
The Alexandre Herchcovitch show yesterday afternoon was a sensory buffet of live music by Animal Collective, kinetic energy of the audience (which collectively seemed both utterly blasé and completely enthralled) and a kaleidoscope of light. If the show's an indicator of things to come, count on hair extensions for cornrows, feathers for your hat and flirty, empire-waist frocks in a blizzard of patterns and colors. I wasn’t as popular sitting in the audience as I was backstage at the Tuleh show in February (no panini machine), but it was still a lovely way to spend Sunday afternoon.
As for the consumables in the tents, it’s all about hydration. Water, water everywhere, and not a snack to eat.
