Bono wants you. Okay. I exaggerate slightly. This picture (Photo Credit: Patrick McMullan, All Rights Reserved) was taken at the Lunch Box Auction party in 2005. Recall it was celebrity designed lunch boxes on auction for charity, including the Food Bank for NYC. Most of the lunch boxes were in fact purchased by said celebrities.
Back to you and Bono. The Food Bank for NYC is planning this year's by-invitation-only party. Because they put 97-cents of every dollar towards fighting hunger, they need some party (corporate?) sponsors. Interested? I think it should be an easy sell. It is sexy! Has celebrities! Is charitably chic! And maybe your only opportunity to get the ultimate screen-saver of you and Bono. Okay, I exaggerate slightly. I'm not sure if he's coming again this year. But either way, you should.
How much notice do you need to work an event into your schedule? I'd guess about 10 days. On September 20th is the fourth annual pig festival at il Buco. There will be a whole Ossobaw pig roasting on Bond Street.
What's an Ossobaw pig you ask? They are a special breed descendant from the famous Iberian pigs in Spain found on Ossobaw Island, Georgia. Their story is well chronicled with humor and gusto in the book Pig Perfect by Peter Kamisky. How long does it take to work a book into your reading list? Prose (done right) can often be the perfect appetizer.
It's party on this weekend, though the festivities will be out in Vegas. I'm refering of course to the MTV Video Music Awards where Jacob Arabo, jeweler to the stars, will launch his new vodka, BOCAJ (Jacob spelled backwards - get it?) on Saturday night. Click through for all the details after the jump.
Sometimes a publicist will send a blurb instead of a full blown press release. To wit, here's some quality blurbage on restaurants opening this September: Lucy of Gramercy, Allen & Delancey, Bobo, Fiamma Osteria, BŪN [boon], Cantina, Graffiti, T-Bar & Steak Lounge. Enjoy the full scoop after the jump.
